Those who need course credit for graduation or certification at the end of a semester or summer school should complete their correspondence work at least three weeks prior to the end of that semester or summer school. Specific deadlines or dates may be obtained from the Correspondence Course Division office. Seniors should schedule exams as early as possible to ensure that instructors can grade them and submit grades before the three-week deadline.
As previously indicated, a correspondence course may not be completed in less than sixty
days from enrollment date. A correspondence course must be completed within 12 months
unless an extension is approved by the Correspondence Course Division and the applicable
fee is received.
A student who does not submit a correspondence course lesson for a period of two months
will be placed on an inactivity list. The student will be notified of this action. If the
student does not respond within 3 weeks of notification, the student will be dropped from
the course. When a student has been dropped for failure to submit lessons, he/she may be
reinstated only one time within a year from the date of his/her registration.
Reinstatement may be granted only for good cause. The original expiration date will remain
in effect.

A student may request a one-time extension (6 months). Your course will be extended from the original enrollment date. Effective September 1, 1999, the extension fee is $25.00.

You may drop a correspondence course anytime before the final examination without academic penalty, and the course will not appear on your official transcript. If you open the final examination envelope, however, you may no longer drop the course and a grade will be assigned. Grades become a permanent part of the student's SHSU record.
